Since its founding, the Community Foundation has awarded over $81 million in grants to organizations working to address a broad array of community needs throughout our region. The Community Foundation is deeply committed to strengthening and encouraging innovation in the nonprofit sector.
Many of the Community Foundation's grants are made from funds that do not accept grant requests. These funds are established and advised by individual donors, and the distributions from the funds are restricted by the donor to specific philanthropic purposes. Grant distributions are made on the suggestion of the donor or fund advisor, with final approval given by the Foundation’s board.
Grants available from the Foundation’s discretionary sources of funding are awarded on the basis of an open and competitive application process. Guidelines, priorities for funding and standards of eligibility must be met in order to apply. Opportunities to apply depend on the availability of funding, which varies from year to year.
We have completed our competitive grant cycles for this fiscal year. The Community Foundation is not currently accepting applications.[1] We encourage nonprofits seeking funding to monitor the Foundation’s website on an on-going basis for news and updates regarding future grant opportunities. Broad public announcement of grant opportunities pending will be made through e-mail blasts and other social media. Be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter, Community Foundation E-News, to be notified of upcoming funding opportunities and other announcements, monitor the Foundation’s website and follow us on Twitter and Facebook. More resources are also available in our Funding Resource Library. Current grantees can download reports and other important documents here. Current grantees are also encouraged to consult the grantee press kit.
