Center for Creative Education Endowment Fund (est. 2016)

Learning is all about exploration, imagination and creative thinking.

Mission Statement
The Center for Creative Education’s (CCE) mission is to empower our students to grow academically, socially, and creatively through arts-based education.

Vision Statement

CCE envisions a world where each child has the opportunity to learn and grow in the way that meets their needs, and allows them to reach their full potential as citizens and contributors to society.

Benefits of Arts Integration

The Center for Creative Education has been using the arts as a teaching tool for more than two decades. Our approach encourages the 21st Century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, which will help children thrive in schools and later in life as adults. The arts are critical to leveling the playing field of opportunity for children from low income areas. An ever-growing body of research indicates students with more arts education have higher academic achievement across the curriculum when compared to students who have less exposure. This method of instruction inspires children to enjoy education and realize that what they study in class has a correlation to real life. They become energized by project-based learning in a way that is difficult to duplicate when only reading from a book. In addition, arts integrated learning encourages life skills such as cooperation, compromise and team building.

About the Center for Creative Education

The Center for Creative Education was created in December of 1994 and is located at 425 24th Street in the Northwood Village section of West Palm Beach. CCE provides first class arts education, and serves as a cultural resource that will increase opportunities for all Palm Beach County citizens, especially our children.

The Center for Creative Education offers three primary categories of programming:

  1. In-school: Our in-school program, “LEAP”, integrates the arts with academics to teach children art skills and content areas such as science, language arts and math.  CCE Teaching Artists work in collaboration with a school’s classroom teachers during the school day, using the arts as a tool.  Together, they team-teach key concepts and lessons which can be difficult for students to master through traditional teaching methods.  We provide classes to children from pre-K to 9th grade.
  2. After-school: Through our “CADRE” (Creative Arts Designed to Reinforce Education) program, teaching artists bring art-infused activities to after-school sites to teach art skills and reinforce classroom studies. Annually, CCE works with over 10,000 students at Title I schools, community centers and organizations such as The Boys and Girls Clubs.  These children are generally at risk of academic failure.  Art infusion not only strengthens their understanding of core curriculum, but also improves life skills such as cooperation, compromise and team building.  The majority of these students are in K to 5th grade.
  3. At the Center:   CCE’s Center in West Palm Beach allows us to have a base from which to provide vital cultural and educational opportunities for residents of the county, specifically the underserved communities in our immediate area.  We provide free classes to adults and families at the Center through our “LOT 23” program.  CCE contracts with the City of West Palm Beach in this city-funded program which builds the community by enlisting artists to teach at the Center and other community venues.  In exchange, the city provides the artists with reduced rent in a city-owned apartment building.

Thank you for your interest in the Center for Creative Education.  We hope you will join us in our efforts to integrate Arts and Academics for the educational enrichment of all children in Palm Beach County.
