The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is laser-focused on its goal to endow the future of its local nonprofits. In two years, its matching challenges add up to an incredible $700,000 invested into the future of local nonprofits.
This fiscal year, the Community Foundation will invest a total of $450,000 into nonprofit endowments. $400,000 goes to 16 nonprofit organization winners of the Forever Nonprofit Endowment Challenge. These 16 501(c)(3) organizations will receive $25,000 each in matching funds to establish a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation. The funds for this initiative come from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fund and the Marie Graber Martens Fund.
An additional $50,000 goes to five nonprofit organizations that have nonprofit endowment funds at the Community Foundation. Each will receive a dollar for dollar match of up to $10,000 to add to their endowment fund.
This Challenge grant piggybacks on the success of last year’s challenge from the Foundation, the Forever Arts and Culture Endowment Challenge. “Building endowment for the community is our expertise,” says Brad Hurlburt, President and CEO of Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. “Altogether, there is approximately $1.2 million in permanent nonprofit endowment funds at the Community Foundation and we anticipate an additional $900,000 through the matching programs. These endowments provides these organizations with future stability and a foundation from which to grow – one not contingent on the success of current or future fundraising efforts. It’s an investment into our community.”
