The Community Foundation awarded 21 Martin County nonprofit organizations with over $67,000 in charitable support from the permanently endowed Briggs-Trimble Family Charitable Fund.
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (December 23, 2015) – The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties awarded 21 Martin County nonprofit organizations with over $67,000 in charitable support from the permanently endowed Briggs-Trimble Family Charitable Fund on Wednesday, December 16th at Lady Ann’s Restaurant and Tea Room in Stuart.
Endowed funds such as these provide a yearly source of income in perpetuity. The following organizations received annual gifts:

“Barbara “Bobbie” Trimble cared about the less fortunate in our community. The annual support from the Briggs-Trimble Family Fund at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will help thousands of Martin County citizens for generations to come,” says Nancy Perry, Vice President of Philanthropy at United Way of Martin County. “It will help us carry out our mission of lifting our community through our six strategic priority areas – ending hunger, Improving education, strengthening families, promoting good heath, supporting financial stability and ensuring safety.”
Martin County philanthropists Barbara “Bobbie” Briggs Trimble and her husband, Edward “Ted” C. Trimble, established the Briggs-Trimble Family Charitable Fund in 1989 at the Community Foundation to assist their favorite Martin County organizations.
The Trimbles also endowed two scholarship funds with the Foundation to benefit Martin County students, one for vocational training and the other for academics.
“Together, the Trimble funds have awarded more than $2 million in grants and $249,000 in scholarships,” said Bradley Hurlburt, President and CEO at the Foundation. “Both Trimbles served as members of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and were strong advocates for friends and neighbors in Martin County. We are honored to preserve their charitable legacy at the Foundation.”
