In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastating impact across Jamaica and neighboring Caribbean nations — many of which have deep cultural and familial ties to Palm Beach and Martin Counties — it is increasingly clear that the needs will be both urgent and long-term.
To do our part, the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is activating our Disaster Relief Fund to provide flexible support to trusted sister organizations responding on the ground and focused on long-term recovery.
“Our Caribbean neighbors are part of the fabric of South Florida — and recovering from Hurricane Melissa will be a long journey,” says Danita R. DeHaney, President and CEO. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we stand ready to help families rebuild and to support community-led organizations working toward healing and resilience in the weeks and months ahead.”
We invite donors to join us in this vital effort to ensure support reaches those most directly affected — with dignity, efficiency, and a long-view toward recovery.
