The Staff Accountant is a key contributor to ensuring the financial health and transparency of The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Reporting to the Controller, this position supports the foundation’s accounting and financial functions, including managing accounts payable and receivable, grant disbursements, reconciling accounts, and supporting the annual audit process.
- Monitor daily banking activity and record all transactions in the accounting system.
- Process and manage vendor invoices, grant disbursements, and scholarship disbursements.
- Ensure all vendor invoices are recorded against the proper budget and general ledger account.
- Process all donor contributions, rental payments, and customer payments in a timely manner ensuring accuracy of donor intention and fund designation.
- Process all gift receipts and mailings.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation of reports for fundholders and board meetings.
- Work closely with the grants and scholarship team to ensure accurate recording and timely disbursement of grants.
- Assist with the preparation of schedules and documentation for the annual audit and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and GAAP standards.
- Maintain strong internal controls and processes.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments on projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 2-4 years’ experience in accounting required.
- Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
