About the Fund

The Don Dahlberg Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Dahlberg in memory of their son, Donald David Dahlberg, who passed away at age 16 in a tragic automobile accident in 1982. A junior at Jupiter High School, Don was a friendly, loyal and active student with a deep love for sports and a growing interest in his future.
The endowed scholarship supports graduating seniors from Jupiter High School who share Don’s enthusiasm for athletics and are beginning to view college as a meaningful step toward a career. It is intended for students who, like Don, are finding their way and beginning to envision their place in the world.
“In his short life he had many friends and had established a rapport with many of his teachers,” said Donald E. Dahlberg. “His interests and the ability to make meaningful friendships could have served him well in later years. This scholarship was established to benefit young people like Don who are searching for their special niche in life and desire to continue their education.”
The Don Dahlberg Memorial Scholarship was the first memorial scholarship created under the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. “We are grateful for Mr. and Mrs. Dahlberg’s commitment to higher education,” said William E. Benjamin II, “and for setting the precedent for the establishment of future memorial scholarships within the Foundation.”
Today, the fund continues to honor Don’s memory by helping students pursue opportunities he was just beginning to imagine for himself.
