About the Fund

Flamingo Clay Studio
Community Foundation Building Fund

The Flamingo Clay Studio is a non-profit artist cooperative operating the popular Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery located on South J Street, in downtown Lake Worth Beach Florida. The Studio provides space for hundreds of artists within Palm Beach county for whom there are few resources in which to create, display or sell their work.

For the last twelve years the studio has been housed in a one-story rented space in downtown Lake Worth Beach, located at 15 South J Street. The building is currently for sale and the owners have agreed to sell to us for a very reasonable price in today’s market.

It is the only one-story building on the block and has room to expand the space substantially with a second story. We currently utilize every square inch of the building for gallery, studio, workshop and kiln space with little to no room for taking in additional artists, or adding additional classes as we just can’t fit one more thing in the space we’re in. In order to realize our vision for the Studio, it requires that we own the building and have the ability to expand by adding a second floor. Not owning the building allows for a precarious future to an organization so vital to the cultural fabric of our community.

Donate to the building fund and help us make the purchase of the building on S. J Street a reality. 100% of your donations will go to the purchase of the building, the design and construction of a 2nd floor, and related costs. Your donation will ensure the long-term success of our programs and provide the many residents of Palm Beach County opportunities to participate in, observe, and learn about 3D arts.

A successful campaign will enable us to purchase, renovate and expand the building. Once completed, this will allow the use of the first floor exclusively for gallery and event space, and move the studio, supplies storage, workspace, classes and kiln complex to the second floor. We will build on our education programs, the number of artists we can serve, and leave lasting programs in place for the community where all are welcome to create and learn, we’ll need to make the purchase and expansion a reality.

Our mission is to provide affordable studio and gallery space to 3D artists in Palm Beach County, offering opportunities for arts, cultural, and educational activities to benefit Palm Beach County and the Lake Worth Beach community. Flamingo Clay Studio works to promote local artists, bring arts education directly to children in their neighborhoods, and provide artists of all ages a space to learn and create.

For 17 years Flamingo Clay Studio/ Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery have brought arts and culture to the core of the second poorest city in the largest county east of the Mississippi. Culture builds communities and is at the core of all efforts put forth by the organization. Hundreds of teens have taken part in classes and cultural community service. Scores of senior artists have found a place to land and create works. The community has been supported by the many fund-raisers and festivals planned in the gallery and outside on the streets. Music and arts flow from the building and find collaboration with the other cultural partners nearby. The diversity of all communities and groups that form Lake Worth Beach are always celebrated and are a part of the woven fabric of the organization. With the ownership of our building we can insure the continuation of our growth and contributions.

Our vision is for the studio to continue as an established cooperative arts institution in Lake Worth Beach. Providing affordable space, support and education to ensure our children’s access to arts and community in perpetuity, and to provide all artists with affordable access to the equipment, tools and supplies needed to create 3-D works of art.
