About the Fund

The Everglades Foundation fund (est. 2018)

The Everglades Foundation works to protect and restore America’s Everglades through science, advocacy and education. Our vision is an Everglades with abundant fresh water for consumption, enjoyment, ecological health and economic growth for generations to come. The Foundation employs a team of eight Ph.D. scientists who are technical subject matter experts in the areas of hydrology, water quality, environmental economics, wetland ecology and engineering.

We believe that in order to ensure that future generations of Floridians understand the ecological and economic value of the Everglades ecosystem, we must provide an extensive education and outreach program. Today, over 2,400 teachers and approximately 100,000 students from 20 counties have completed the coursework and are implementing the Everglades Literacy Program in their classrooms through engaging hands-on activities and age-specific lesson plans focused on providing K-12 students with an opportunity to better understand America’s Everglades.

Our mission is dedicated to a single focus, restore and ultimately protect a national treasure that we call America’s Everglades. A one of a kind eco-system that provides over 8 million residents and tourists their drinking water.
