About the Fund

Kim was born in Milan, Tenn., and moved to Jupiter in her preschool years when her father accepted a position at Pratt and Whitney. Kim began her banking career at 1st American Bank, later moving on to charter the opening of Admiralty Bank. She left the finance world in 1992 to work with her husband, Larry in the family business. She was dedicated to advancing the careers of women, serving on the board of Executive Women and as an active committee member of the Business Development Board and North Palm Beach Chamber. She passed away unexpectedly, and this scholarship serves to perpetuate her memory and spirit.

Her sense of humor was remembered by the many tributes offered at her memorial service. Noting her love of golf, one of the poems written for the service contained the following verse:

“You were called
But not on a whim
God had a 2:20 tee time
For the angels and Kim”

Patty McDonald: “She was a very strong leader, someone who would go to bat for you, someone that could and would make the important decisions, someone who made-and-left an impact on the organization.”

Kim’s impact on her community was best described at her memorial service:
“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. What we deeply love becomes part of us.”
