The Community Foundation hosted its third annual Founder’s Award Luncheon
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (May 25, 2016) – The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties hosted its third annual Founder’s Award Luncheon on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion. The exciting program honored the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund established by Mary and Robert Pew with the Founder’s Award for the impact on education it has made in the community.
Dr. Robert Avossa, School Superintendent of Palm Beach County, served as keynote speaker and discussed the impact of philanthropy in the public education system.
“Mary and Robert Pew were forward thinking philanthropists with a passion to positively impact children’s lives by providing high quality educational programs,” said President and CEO, Bradley Hurlburt. “The Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund has impacted thousands of students in literacy, science, technology, engineering and math and are truly an inspiration to our community. We are proud to host the Pew Fund as a supporting organization of the Foundation.”
More than 475 attended the luncheon, including board members, donors and fund holders, local nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors and community leaders.
The Community Foundation also announced its 2015/2016 grant recipients and United Ways of Palm Beach County and Martin County joined them to announce the grand total raised during Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties. This 24-hour online giving event held on May 3 benefited 504 participating nonprofits and raised over $3 million.
Julie Fisher Cummings and William Matthews, past Founder’s Award honorees, presented the 2016 Founder’s Award.
