The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will host its inaugural Martens Award Luncheon on Wednesday, October 28, 2015
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (October 8, 2015) – The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will host its inaugural Martens Award Luncheon on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Polo Club of Boca Raton. The exciting program will include a brief history of the Foundation and the leadership role it has played connecting philanthropists to the Southern Palm Beach County community for over 40 years. Additionally, Spirit of Giving will be honored with the Martens Award for their extraordinary service in the community. Barbara M. Schmidt, author and Board member of the Schmidt Family Foundation, will provide a keynote address.
“Marie Graber Martens was a humble Boca Raton philanthropist, quietly supporting education and people in need. Mrs. Martens gave a $15 million bequest in 1990 at her passing to the Community Foundation, doubling the assets of the organization at that time. Her visionary role in the growth of the Community Foundation has enabled the organization to serve the community many times over,” said President and CEO, Brad Hurlburt. “What better way to celebrate the power of philanthropy than by hosting this event and honoring Mrs. Martens and Spirit of Giving, an organization that’s connected and strengthened so many of our nonprofits in Palm Beach County.”
More than 200 people are expected to attend the luncheon, including board members, donors and fund holders, local nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors and community leaders.
Premier sponsor is PNC Bank. Community sponsors include The Boca Raton Observer, WPBT2, WLRN, Schmidt Family Foundation. Table sponsors include Charlotte Pelton & Associates, FAU Division of Institutional Advancement, Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Impact 100, Nova Southeastern University, The Palm Beach Post, Spirit of Giving, Alzheimer’s Community Care and Palm Beach State College Foundation.
Tickets are $65 per person, or $1,200 for a sponsored table of 10. All proceeds will benefit the Community Foundation’s annual operations. To register, or for more information, visit www.yourcommunityfoundation.org.
