The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has announced four in-person information sessions for its annual Scholarship Program, designed for local high school students. These sessions are open to students who are interested in applying for a Community Foundation scholarship, learning more about the available opportunities, or receiving assistance with their applications.
Currently, nearly 100 scholarships are available for high school seniors planning to enroll in colleges, universities, trade schools, or vocational programs in the summer or fall of 2025. The awards average $10,000, and applications will be accepted through February 3, 2025.
- January 18, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Delray Beach Public Library, 100 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach. Please bring your library card; reservations are not required.
- January 25, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Library – Belle Glade Branch, 725 NW 4th Street, Belle Glade. Please bring your library card; reservations are not required.
- January 25, 2025 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Library – Loula V. York Branch, 525 Bacom Point Road, Pahokee. Please bring your library card; reservations are not required.
- February 1, 2025 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Elisabeth Lahti Library, 15200 SW Adams Avenue, Indiantown (Martin County). Please bring your library card; reservations are not required.
In addition to its general scholarships, the Community Foundation offers several awards tailored to students with unique circumstances. These include opportunities for women who have placed a child for adoption, family members of fallen law enforcement officers, and individuals pursuing careers in agriculture, architecture, creative writing, or the medical and nursing fields.
About the Application
This year’s Scholarship Program application closes on February 3, 2025. Scholarship interviews take place in March and April 2025. Award recipients will be notified in June, and funds will be distributed in July. Applicants must have a Grade Point Average of 2.0 or higher, be a graduating high school student from Palm Beach or Martin County, demonstrate financial need and/or academic achievement, and be an incoming student at a college, university or vocational/trade school. Some scholarships have additional criteria.
The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee reviews applications and matches potential candidates to scholarship funds based on a variety of criteria and several scholarships require interviews. The Committee makes awardee recommendations to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, which votes to approve scholarship funding.
