In 2015, Helping People Succeed, a Martin County nonprofit, was struggling to offset a major cut in funding. So, when they heard about the Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties, they decided to go all in.
In 24 hours, they were able to raise more than $33,000. “The Great Give came at just the right time and allowed us to continue a critical program that provides mental health services for children and their families,” said Suzy Hutcheson, CEO, Helping People Succeed. On May 3, Helping People Succeed and more than 400 other nonprofits will set out to raise as much money as possible in a single day.
Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties is a 24-hour online giving event led by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach County, United Way of Palm Beach County and United Way of Martin County designed to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in a single day. This community-wide event, to be held on May 3 from midnight to midnight, celebrates the spirit of giving and the collective effort it takes to strengthen our community by raising critical funds for local nonprofits.
Every local gift made during the 24-hour period will be multiplied by additional dollars from a bonus pool raised by the Community Foundation. Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties will make May 3 even more exciting by providing cash or valuable prizes for nonprofits to compete for each hour.
Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties is open to all eligible nonprofits in our two-county area. Nonprofits are encouraged to sign up early and start promoting – just visit www.GreatGiveFlorida.org and click on the “Nonprofit Registration” button. Nonprofits have until March 30 to register to participate in the giving event.
Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties is part of the largest online giving event in history, Give Local America. We will once again join close to 200 communities across the country to raise millions of dollars for the greater good – all on a single day. Last year’s event raised more than $68 million nationally and $3.1 million locally, with our Great Give ranking 7th! The shared goal is to make an even GREATer impact this year!
Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to support this unique opportunity for our community to raise significant funds that will make a direct, positive impact on the lives of our neediest residents (including the furry variety). You can provide a prize, become a sponsor, offer an in-store incentive or simply GIVE on May 3. Please contact Alexia Savage to see how you can get involved today! AlexiaSavage@UnitedWayPBC.org
