PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Success Coach is the program coordinator of the Wrap-around Services Program, ensuring that Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counites (CFPBMC) Scholarship Awardees (scholars) have equitable access to information, programs, and emergency services that can address barriers to scholars’ successful completion of academic programs at colleges, universities, and/or trade schools across the United States. In order to achieve this goal, The Success Coach will develop supportive relationships with scholars as well as partnerships with academic advisors and on-campus mentors at associated institutions.

The position reports to the Vice President for Community Impact and works closely with all departments within the Community Foundation as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Community Impact team to draft, understand and implement policies and procedures for the CFPBMC Scholarship and Wrap Around Services Program.
  • Maintain open communication with scholars to monitor students’ progress and assess potential areas of need.
  • Assist students in navigating and exploring decisions related to successfully completing their educational goals, including possible majors and course selection, identifying barriers to their educational schedule and responsibilities, and developing plans to keep students on track for completion.
  • Identify and build relationships with supportive programs, resources and staff on campuses where scholars are attending school.
  • Ensures required documentation is collected from students related to requests for emergency funding as established by the Community Foundation.
  • Prepares content for quarterly reports, presentations, and recommendations on program.
  • Works with team to review, evaluate, and report on the program annually and makes recommendations that align with best practices for student success.
  • Works with the Community Impact team, Philanthropic Services, and the Marketing Teams to collect inspiring students’ stories so fundraising staff can engage current and prospective fundholders.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
  • Assists with developing content for and facilitating workshops (in person and virtual) on topics such as effective study skills, financial literacy, and professional networking.
  • Attends all required Community Foundation meetings, events, and functions (internal and external) as it relates to this position.
  • Coordinates, receives, and processes student requests for emergency funding according to the programs policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a point of contact between Community Foundation and the scholars, especially students enrolled in the Wrap-around services program.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the Wrap Around Services cohorts to connect them with resources and/or services (e.g., mental health counseling) to support their ongoing success.
  • Works directly with the Vice President for Community Impact to manage Wrap Around Services budget and be aware of the availability of funds for emergency support services.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Three years of related experience, preferably including work experience collaborating with organizations, systems, and individuals from under-resourced communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably within a related field, including: Social Work, Education, College Counseling, Guidance Counselor.
  • Preference for candidates who are familiar with and have been trained in Motivational Interviewing.
  • Commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrate strong and compassionate interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills (new software, Microsoft Suite Products, comfortable with new software and databases).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
