About the Fund
The Early Literacy Fund is designed to help nonprofit organizations focused on improving youth literacy rates in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The fund was created as a response to the chronic literacy crisis, particularly for children in third grade.
In 2023, the fail rates on third grade reading assessments rose above 50%, an alarming statistic that spurred the Community Foundation to lead a philanthropic response.
The Early Literacy Fund will be administered in the Community Foundation’s annual competitive grantmaking cycle.
