About the Fund
John S. Atwater exemplified all the virtues attributed to the “Greatest Generation ” – kindness, fairness, and bravery. He grew up during the Great Depression and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. John returned home a military hero and married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Hardee. After graduating from Notre Dame, he was recruited to the FBI by J. Edgar Hoover, where he had a distinguished 28-year career. He raised six kids and loved his family, country and the community.
