About the Fund
Audubon of Martin County Endowment Fund (est. 2018)
Audubon of Martin County's mission is to "promote conservation through educating our community about birds and their native habitat, while providing opportunities to experience the joy of observing birds in the wild." Audubon of Martin County (AOMC) has been in operation since 1955, acquiring many conservation parcels since our charter, including the historic Possum Long Property in Stuart, Florida.
Over time, AOMC has increased its ability to serve the surrounding communities through its youth and adult education programming with robust lectures and outdoor seminars. Unfortunately, opportunities for youth to get involved in conservation of all ages in Martin County have historically been relatively low. Audubon of Martin County wants to give children in the surrounding area the chance to not only get involved but also learn about our unique ecosystem and its important services. Recent accomplishments piloting a new 'service-learning' program for Teens in partnership with the county's 'Ecosystems Restoration' division and the Native Plant Society. We plan on expanding our impact by offering programming that can accommodate more participants in the early learning and elementary age bracket in the coming year. Ultimately, Martin County Audubon is constantly striving to have a big impact on our local lands through resident activism projects and awareness campaigns.
