About the Fund

Cox Science Center fund (est. 2018)

Since originally opening our doors almost 60 years ago, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium has hosted over five million visitors. Last year, more than 310,000 guests and students explored, discovered, created, and were inspired by our unique and engaging programs, aquariums and exhibits! Next year, we anticipate 350,000 guests with 175,000 public and private school children from Palm Beach, Martin, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. The rapid growth of the Science Center is a testament to the significant role we assume within the community, serving as an educational and cultural resource for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. True to our mission to ‘open all minds to science’, we are proud to be recognized as the organization that hosts programs for more Title I students in Palm Beach than any other local non-profit.

We recently renovated our planetarium and rehabilitated our observatory (now equipped for solar viewing and web cam capability so guests can remotely view through the telescope) and now both are experiencing record attendance. This year we also opened The Conservation Course, our 18-hole miniature course designed by Jim Fazio and Gary Nicklaus.

The Cox Science Center and Aquarium continues to grow and expand and remains in excellent financial health. We were named, once again, Best Museum in Palm Beach County by South Florida Parenting Magazine, and we were again awarded Four Stars by Charity Navigator – its highest rating – for fiscal stability and transparency.
